Diaphragm Coupling Features

Weld Free Design

Unlike other coupling types, diaphragm couplings feature a weld-free design that eliminates the risk of degradation in the weld zone, which typically occurs in other couplings over time due to heat and stress. The weld-free design of the couplings makes them more durable and able to last longer, making them suitable for heavy-duty applications.

Exceptional Balance Repeatability

Diaphragm couplings balance precision and consistent performance, ensuring that vibrations are minimized and equipment is stable even under high loads and speeds. Exceptional balance repeatability is vital in smoooth operation applications.

Contoured and Flexible

Unlike rigid couplings, Riverhawk’s contoured design allows it to flex and accommodate misalignments between connected shafts, playing a pivotal role in the lifespan of equipment and minimizing wear.  The contoured coupling shape allows for angular, parallel, and axial misalignment compensation, as well as fluctuations between torque and axial movement.

Easy Maintenance

The diaphragm coupling features modular bolted and splined components, facilitating straightforward maintenance allowing replacement of individual parts when needed. Quick maintenance minimizes downtime and simplifies coupling upkeep, making it cost-effective.

Diaphragm Coupling Materials and Durability

Standard Material:
Stainless Steel
(15-5PH)

Our standard material is 15-5PH Stainless Steel. This choice provides an excellent balance of strength and reliability and offers outstanding protection in many different corrosive environments.
Due to it’s inherant properties, we do not apply any coating after finish machining, relying on the material’s natural durability for long-term use.

High-Performance Choice:
VascoMax®
(AMS-6514)

For demanding, high-power density applications that require maximum capability, we utilize VascoMax® (AMS-6514). This specialized alloy is selected for its exceptionally high material strengths, enabling the most advanced uses.
To ensure this critical component is also corrosion resistant, we apply a robust, dual-layer protective system:
    • Corrosion Protection: We first apply a base coat of Alseal. This coating actively protects the high-strength base material from corrosion.

    • Scratch & Durability: To protect the Alseal layer, we finish with a very durable Powder Coat. This outer layer offers excellent scratch protection and enhances the component’s longevity in harsh conditions.

Commitment to Coupling Quality Assurance

Quality is the foundation of our manufacturing process. As an ISO 9001 certified company, we adhere to rigorous standards and leverage state-of-the-art technology to ensure every product meets the highest possible performance criteria.

Our Quality Control Measures

Our commitment to quality is embedded in our documentation and procedures:

Standardized Procedures: We operate under strict Manufacturing Work Instructions, Purchasing Procedures, and Quality Procedures to ensure consistency and repeatability in everything we do.
Precision Inspection (CMM): We inspect our finished components using a state-of-the-art Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) to verify critical dimensions with exceptional accuracy.
Industry Compliance: For coupling components, we go a step further by performing a specialized “blue check” process. This visually assures that the taper geometry is within acceptable standards, as established by industry specifications like API-671.

Assurance Beyond Inspection

We don’t just inspect; we test to guarantee performance before shipment:

Taper Verification: We perform “blue checks” to meticulously test the taper match of taper-bored hubs, ensuring a perfect fit.
Full Load Hydraulic Testing: All of the hydraulic parts we manufacture undergo a comprehensive full load test. This procedure assures that the component is fully functional and performs reliably under operational conditions before it is shipped to the customer.

Comprehensive Documentation & Support

Every coupling we sell is accompanied by a detailed Installation Manual. This valuable resource goes beyond simple directions, providing the necessary guidance for long-term successful operation:

Installation Directions: Step-by-step guidelines on how to install the provided components.
• Maintenance Practices: Best practices for upkeep and extended product life.
Recommended Inspections: Suggested schedules and procedures for routine checks.
• Storage Procedures: Instructions for proper handling and preservation of spare parts.
• Recommended Spare Parts: A list of critical parts to have on hand for maximum uptime.

We proudly maintain our accreditations as an ISO 9001 Certified Company, reflecting our dedication to an internationally recognized quality management system.
